CUNNINGHAM/DOWNHAUL (Drawing 4 above):

THE CUNNINGHAM/downhaul consists of two (2) lines:

TIE-DOWN line 2 (shorter one) to the hole in the gooseneck fitting.

RUN IT through the grommet at the tack corner of the mainsail and then down and tie a small single bullet block to the end of the line.

RUN LINE 1 (longer line) through the cam cleat on the port side, then through the port double bullet block (using outside sheave) at the mast base, then up through the single bullet block at the end of line 2 and down through the starboard double bullet block (use outside sheave) at the mast base exiting through the cam cleat at the starboard side.

DON'T FORGET to tie "figure-eight" knos at both ends of line 1.

Go faster, go further, go safer.
